Saturday, April 7

Depart for New York
Welcome Dinner
Dance Theater of Harlem
Post-Performance After Party

Depart Tulsa for our early morning flight to New York. Transfer to Wellington Hotel for 5 nights. Our hotel is located at 55th Street and 7th Avenue adjacent to City Center Theater where two of our dance companies perform. Our hotel is steps away from Times Square, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathederal and the shops of Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue.  Dine at the variety of restaurants that only New York offers. After getting settled in your room, join other members of our group in the lobby and we will walk down the street to Pazza-Notte for our welcome dinner followed by a performance of Dance Theater of Harlem. This will be the closing performance of the Dance Theater of Harlem’s 50th Anniversary Season and we are all invited to attend the post-performance party.

Sunday, April 8

Macy’s Flower Show
Afternoon Free
Evening Cocktail Cruise

We start the day with a visit to the Flower Show at Macy’s with time for breakfast on your own and shopping.  The afternoon is free for lunch on your own, museums, sightseeing, and additional shopping. Perhaps you would like to choose an optional Broadway matinee. We will meet in the hotel lobby in late afternoon for transportation to our evening cocktail cruise of lower Manhattan with wine and hors d’oeuvres included.  After the cruise, we transfer back to our hotel.

Monday, April 9

Cloisters Museum Tour
Lunch at New Leaf
Dance Company Studio Visit
The Iceman Cometh

Today is a full day, beginning with a visit to Cloisters Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Medieval Collection and home of the famous Unicorn Tapestries. Lunch is included at the New Leaf Restaurant in Fort Tryon Park.   Afterwards we visit a leading New York dance company in rehearsal. This evening we attend a performance of Eugene O’Neill’s classic, The Iceman Cometh, starring Denzel Washington.

Tuesday, April 10

New York Botanical Garden
Ballet Hispánico

This morning we visit the New York Botanical Garden where the annual Orchid Show is in full bloom.  There is time to visit the greenhouses and have lunch on your own before returning to our hotel mid-afternoon.   In the evening we bus to the Joyce Theater for a performance of  Ballet Hispánico, America’s premier Latin American dance company.  After the performance, we transfer back to our hotel.

Wednesday, April 11

Free Day
Optional Metropolitan Opera Tour

Martha Graham Dance Company

Today is free for shopping, sight-seeing, a Broadway show on your own, or an optional backstage tour of the Metropolitan Opera.  For those interested in a New York delicatessen experience we will provide transportation for breakfast at Katz’s Deli, site of a memorable scence from the movie When Harry Met Sally (“I’ll have what she’s having.”) In the evening we go next-door to our hotel for the opening performance of the Martha Graham Dance Company’s spring season. After the performance we will gather for a gala post-performance dessert party at Brasserie Cognac.

Thursday, April 12

Final day in NYC for last minute shopping and sightseeing. At mid-afternoon we transfer to LaGuardia for our return trip to Tulsa.
